POLICY – Marriages Being Performed on Municipal Lands and Buildings
1) The following locations are available for weddings to occur with the understanding that it is a public space and cannot be reserved exclusively for their use. Town Hall, Main Beach, St. Christopher’s Beach, The Cove Beach, The Beach Gazebo, Bingham Park, Court House Park, Gaol Bank, Lighthouse Park, Lions Harbour Park, Sunset Park, Dutch Liberation Memorial Park, Lakeside Park, Lighthouse Park, Victoria Park and Taylor Morrison Park. These locations can be booked through the Festivals and Special Events Coordinator or the Town Hall with the prescribed fee being paid.
2) There is no alcohol allowed in any of the locations pursuant to the Municipal Alcohol Policy – By-Law No. 14 of 2016.
3) In addition, wedding ceremonies can occur on municipal lands and buildings located within the following zones: Public Open Space (OS1), Community Facility (CF1, CF2 and CF3) and Core Commercial (C4 & C5). Weddings are not permitted on other zoned municipal property.
4) Any take down, set-up and arrangements will be that of the person(s) holding the wedding and are not the responsibility of the Town. Any equipment (chairs, arbor, etc.) brought to the site will be the sole responsibility of the person(s) holding the wedding and timely removal of said equipment is required.
5) The Town does not assume any liability with regards to the event. Person(s) holding the event must provide the Town with a certificate of insurance in the amount of $2,000,000 with the Town of Goderich name as additional insured.
6) The Town is not responsible for any interruptions that occur by the general public also using the park area nor the natural environment (noise, birds, wildlife) pedestrian traffic or any disruption due to construction or traffic in certain locations.
7) No reserved parking necessarily available.
8) Washroom facilities and hydro hook-ups may not be available in some parks.
9) Throwing of confetti and similar materials are prohibited.
10) The Town will endeavour to have the park in a condition that is acceptable to those person(s) holding the wedding such as grass cut and trimming, however there are situations that may arise with regards to weather that prohibit this being done
